Lonesome River Band leader Sammy Shelor has gone Hollywood.
And returned home to Southwest Virginia.
Catch the soaring star when he leads Lonesome River Band to Bristol’s Paramount Center for the Arts on June 16. The show, one of many within The Crooked Road’s Mountains of Music Homecoming, includes Dale Jett and his band Hello Stranger as the opening act.
“I’m trying to recover from the past week,” said Shelor from his home in Meadows of Dan, Virginia. “It’s been nuts.”
Shelor and his banjo traveled to Hollywood along with fellow Lonesome River Band member Mike Hartgrove. They performed “Friend of Mine” with comedian Martin Short during the American Film Institute’s program to honor Steve Martin with its lifetime achievement award on June 4.
